James Geoghegan – Developer & User

James Geoghegan from Agriknives received the top award in the mechanical and livestock production equipment category. Agriknives also received a certificate of merit in the innovation award in association with the Farmers Guardian. The Agri Knives sharpening machine has been developed over the last five years by James Geoghegan. James runs a contracting business where he harvests 2,000 acres per year of heavy grass in rough Irish conditions using three Pottinger forage wagons.

To reduce running costs James set up a company called Agri Knives and started importing wearing parts for forage wagons and balers. Agri Knives started to provide a sharpening service for forage knives with two sharpening machines and so the idea started to develop a new machine for sharpening knives.

James, pictured here, received the top award in the mechanical and livestock production equipment category at the Lamma 2015. The show was held at the East of England Showground in Peterborough, England. Agriknives also received a certificate of merit in the innovation award in association with the Farmers Guardian.
